Hailing Bihar Electorate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Date: Wednesday, November 11, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nthree Left Parties \u2013 Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of\nIndia and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) \u2013 have issued the\nfollowing statement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nLeft Parties congratulate the electorate of Bihar for their support to the\nMahagathbandhan, including the candidates of the Left parties, which\ncontributed to the Mahagathbandhan putting up a spirited contest in the\nelection against the ruling BJP-JD(U) and its government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nresponse of the youth and the people to the issues concerning people\u2019s\nlivelihood and employment was heartening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\ndifference of vote share of both the alliances is very very small.  The BJP-led alliance lost 12 per cent from\nthe vote it polled in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incumbent\nChief Minister\u2019s party, Janata Dal (United), won only 43 seats, as compared to\nthe 71 it won in the last assembly election. \nThe CM\u2019s defection from the Mahagathbandhan to the BJP is, amongst other\nfactors, rejected by a large section of the electorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nLeft parties together won 16 out of the 29 seats that they contested \u2013 CPI(ML)\n\u2013 12, CPI(M) \u2013 2 and CPI \u2013 2. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nBJP and Prime Minister Modi raised the communal agenda to a very high pitch and\nsought to communally polarize the electorate. \nThis was effectively met largely by the Mahagathbandhan\u2019s focus on the\neconomic distress caused by the lockdown and the utter failure of the BJP and\nits allies in containing the pandemic and galloping unemployment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nLeft parties are of the opinion that there were certain clear irregularities\nduring the last stages of the counting that need to be seriously addressed by\nthe Election Commission. Along with other partners of the Mahagathbandhan, the\nLeft parties will take up these matters with the Election Commission of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nLeft parties\u2019 presence in the Assembly will be utilized to advance the cause of\nthe toiling people, raising crucial issues like jobs and on social\/economic\ninjustices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nstruggles to achieve these objectives shall vigorously continue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
